Adam Lyth scores the fastest fifty of The Hundred

Adam Lyth hit the quickest half-century in The Hundred tournament’s history – from 17 deliveries – but it went down the drain as the rest of the batters failed to build on the platform he provided. Lyth was eventually dismissed for 79 from just 33 balls.

After winning the toss in his first match as Oval Invincibles skipper, Jason Roy chose to bowl first at the Kia Oval. Lyth got off to a rollicking start for the Northern Superchargers, hitting four sixes from four successive balls to take the attack to the Invincibles. Tom Curran and Reece Topley had no answers to the Yorkshireman as he galloped to 53 off just 17 balls.
