Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have returned to India's 15-man squad for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2022 as the team builds up to the all-important T20 World Cup. While Kohli, the former captain, was rested for the recently-concluded series against West Indies, Rahul returns after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a groin injury that required surgery and a Covid-positive diagnosis.
The selection panel has retained Deepak Hooda as a middle-order resource at the expense of Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson while Ravi Bishnoi has been given a spot as a second wrist-spinning option.
