England reposed faith in the line-up that hasn’t quite found its bearings this summer, but has the chance to end their ODI campaign on a promising note. Phil Salt gets another chance to bat at No.3, following Ben Stokes’ ODI retirement, while Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone – whose cameos at Old Trafford proved instrumental – will once again fill out the middle-order in tandem with Moeen Ali.
Jos Buttler, England’s captain, admitted he was unsure about what he’d have done had he won the toss, but was happy to bowl first. England have kept South Africa to 119/2 after 20.5 overs at Leeds, with the visitors having lost Janneman Malan and Rassie van der Dussen.
