Busy at the crease, Abdullah Shafique raises fifty

Abdullah Shafique’s gritty unbeaten 77 kept Pakistan on course in the chase as the visitors progressed to 147 for 2 at Tea on Day 4 of the Galle Test, still requiring 195 to register a memorable victory.

Pakistan began the session with all their 10 wickets intact. For a period of five-six overs after the break, the opening duo negated the Sri Lanka’s spinners well. Shafique also reached his fifty in the 27th over. However, against the run of play, Imam-ul-Haq was stumped on the back of sharp work from Niroshan Dickwella, with Ramesh Mendis taking the crucial scalp.
