Steve Smith unsure about the sustainability of ‘Bazball’

Former Australian captain Steve Smith on Wednesday said England’s ultra-positive approach to Test cricket, famously christened ‘Bazball’, is exciting but questioned its sustainability. Smith has doubts about whether England would be able to continue with their bold and brave methods on a green top against the vaunted Australian pace attack.

“It’s been exciting, I’m just intrigued to see how long it lasts, if it’s sustainable,” Smith said on the eve of Australia’s 2nd Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.

“If you come on a wicket that’s got some grass on it and Josh Hazlewood, Cummins and Starc are rolling in at you, is it going to be the same? We’ll see what happens,” he added.

Their pragmatic ways have paid off so far as England have won 4 out of 4 Tests ever since Brendon McCullum took over as the head coach, joining hands with newly-appointed captain Ben Stokes.
