Hanuma Vihari and Cheteshwar Pujara waded through the remainder of that tricky 13-over spell to keep India in front in the rearranged fifth Test at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground. Earlier, Bairstow’s third centuy in as many Tests helped England avoid the follow-on, although he couldn’t prevent the visitors from taking a 132-run lead.
