Jasprit Bumrah set to lead India if Rohit Sharma remains unavailable

The prospects of Rohit Sharma leading India in the Edgbaston Test against England are getting slimmer with each passing day as the India skipper has failed to recover after contracting Covid-19 during a warm-up game in Leicester last week. National selectors and team management have decided to take a wait-and-watch approach, as per Cricbuzz, but that seems like mispalced optimism. Since testing positive on June 25, Rohit has been in constant isolation, returning a positive result in every RT PCR test conducted since. Should he remain unavailable, Bumrah will be the first pacer, after Kapil Dev, to be handed the reins of the Indian team.
