Ball ricochets from evading non-striker’s bat to land in mid-off’s palms

Daryl Mitchell and Henry Nicholls looked unperturbed at the crease enroute their 40-run stand, but a freak dismissal at the stroke of tea meant New Zealand have now lost half their side. It was a full delivery from over the wicket as Henry Nicholls shimmied down the track and drilled it wide of the bowler. However, it was approaching the non-striker. Daryl Mitchell moved away but was late to yank his bat out of the way. The ball hit the sweet spot of Mitchell’s willow and lobbed over an evading Richard Kettleborough before settling straight into Alex Lees’s hands at mid-off. It is a pretty unfortunate way of getting out, one must say.
