Openers pilot England to unassailable lead versus Netherlands

England earned ten Super League points and an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series with another easy, if less authoritative, victory over the Netherlands at Amstelveen on Sunday (June 19) with Jason Roy and Phil Salt establishing a demoralizing 139-run opening stand to set up a six wicket win after the Dutch had posted a respectable 235-7 in 41 overs. Stand-in skipper Scott Edwards top scored for the Dutch with 78 from number five after Pieter Seelaar was ruled out by the flare-up of a chronic back complaint, one which would force him to announce his retirement from international cricket at the close of play.
