A blistering hundred from Jonny Bairstow left New Zealand gasping for breath in the post-Tea session on Day 5 of the second Test as England hunted down a target of 299 with plenty of time to spare and clinched the series 2-0 with a game to go. Bairstow cruised to a 77-ball ton – the second fastest by an England cricketer in Tests after GL Jessop’s 76-ball century against Australia in 1902 – as the crowd at Trent Bridge, which was allowed free entry into the stadium today, was kept in constant thrall. Watch the winning shot that gave England an unassailable lead.
We’ve just chased 299 in 50 overs in a Test match on day five 🤯
