It’s Stumps at Nottingham and it has been New Zealand’s day. England will rue the four dropped chances including the one late on when Jonny Bairstow and Zac Crawley did not go for the catch in the slips. On a green seamer, they won the toss and opted to field but Tom Latham and Will Young were unflustered till they departed off successive balls at the end of the first session.
Post-lunch Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls strung a partnership before Stokes dismissed the latter. Soon Anderson got Conway and England were looking to make further incisions but were thwarted by an unbeaten 149-run stand. Once again it was the same pair of Tom Blundell and Daryl Mitchell who have joined forces. Both of them transferred the pressure back on England by playing proactive cricket, especially Mitchell who was looking to capitalize at every opportunity off the spinners.
And that 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀 Day One of the second Test! 🏴🇳🇿
Plenty for England to ponder, as it goes down as New Zealand’s day 🤔 #ENGvNZ
