New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme has been ruled out of the rest of the England tour after MRI scans revealed a tear in his right heel. Michael Bracewell, who was earlier drafted in as a cover for Henry Nicholls, has been added to the squad as a replacement.

De Grandhomme, who would need “10-12 weeks to recover” as per head coach Gary Stead, injured his heel while bowling in the second session on Day 3 of the Lord’s Test and was subsequently ruled out of the series opener, which New Zealand went on to lose by five wickets on the fourth morning as Joe Root anchored the 277-run chase.

The second Test between England and New Zealand starts on Friday (June 10) at Trent Bridge.
