Warwickshire opened their T20 Blast campaign in emphatic fashion in a rain-affected game at Edgbaston. Having opted to bat, the hosts amassed 207 runs in just 16 overs with Ireland’s Paul Stirling registering a career-best score of 119 off just 51 balls. His thunderous innings, laced with 10 sixes, was complemented well by Sam Hain’s 32-ball 66*. Northamptonshire’s forgettable outing got worse as they were reduced to 20/3 inside the fourth over. Danny Briggs and Jake Lintott took three wickets each to skittle the visitors out for just 81.
