The swashbuckling Shafali Verma cruised away at the top before Laura Wolvaardt’s unbeaten half century helped Velocity gun down a stiff target to prevail against Supernovas by seven wickets in the Women’s T20 Challenge here on Tuesday.
Set 151 after opting to field, Velocity overhauled the target with 10 balls to spare. Shafali reached her half century in short order, needing only 28 balls to get to the landmark. She did so in style, thumping Deandra Dottin for a boundary over midwicket. After Shafali’s breezy knock, Laura Wolvaardt (51 off 35 balls) and Deepti Sharma (24 not out) took Velocity over the line comfortably.
