Sussex’s final-day declaration blew up in their face as Sam Robson led visitors Middlesex to a thrilling victory on the final day at Hove. Set 370 to win after the hosts declared on the back of Cheteshwar Pujara’s jumbo 170*, Robson belted 149 to take Middlesex over the line, putting on a 209-run stand in 48.3 overs with captain Peter Handscomb (79). Max Holden then added 99 with the promoted Martin Andersson off just 82 balls to complete a stunning chase in a game that Sussex had in the pocket before bad light and rain scuppered their plans early on the final day.
