Sam Cook bowled the perfect ball to Harry Duke in Essex’s County Championship match against Yorkshire but was denied a wicket in bizzare fashion. The delivery jagged away a little to whiz past Dukes’s defence and kiss the off-stump, but to everyone’s surpise the bails were not dislodged and the lucky batter survived. Under the impression that he has got his man, Cook ran off to celebrate before realising that the bail and stump had remained intact. He even tried blowing them off to check whether the bails have settled too deep in the groove.
