(Video) County Championship round-up: Sibley, Burns produce patient tons

Surrey vs Northamptonshire

Rory Burns’s watchful 107 from 259 balls, on an Oval pitch with a bit of assistance for the bowlers, propped up Surrey on the opening day. Buoyed by Sam Curran’s unbeaten 71 lower down the order, Surrey finished the day at 261/6, with Luke Procter returning 3 for 51. The 95-run stand between Burns and Curran for the fifth wicket was the highest of the day.

Lancashire vs Warwickshire

Dominic Sibley’s 118 not out off 278 balls was the headlining act of the day at Old Trafford, where Warwickshire finished the day on 273/7 after opting to bat. At 141/4, Sibley and Chris Benjamin added 99 runs for the fifth wicket but Tom Bailey’s three-wicket haul curtailed Warwickshire’s progress to an extent.
