South Africa U-19 World Cup star Dewald Brevis on Wednesday trumpeted his arrival on the IPL stage with a boundary off only the second ball he faced. Swinging through the line, he heaved a Rasikh Salam inswinger clean as a whistle over mid-on, as if to say I belong here. In the contest against Kolkata Knight Riders, Brevis, who was snapped up for Rs 3 crore by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022 auction, wasn’t reluctant to take on mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy. Having read his wrong’un early, the 18-year-old dispatched Varun’s very first ball of the quota into the stands at deep-midwicket.
