On a pitch that was holding a touch, Gill, with a fast bat swing, managed to get after the spinners careening them for four sixes, where three came against just Axar Patel. He also took a liking to Shardul Thakur, who was guilty of erring regularly on length against Gill. Coupling the dominance against spin with three fours off Thakur, Gill was able to maintain an impressive strike-rate of 182.
