The Asian Cricket Council has decided to prolong the tenure of its President Jay Shah by one year until 2024. It has also been decided that the Asia Cup 2022 will be organized in Sri Lanka between August 27 and September 11.
The tournament will be played in the T20 format with the qualifiers scheduled on August 20. Sri Lanka was originally supposed to host the tournament in 2020 before it was deferred twice due to the pandemic. They retained their rights to stage the 2022 edition, with Pakistan in line to host the 2023 edition of the tournament.
