A magnificent century from Henry Nicholls and a well-compiled 96 from Tom Blundell put hosts New Zealand firmly in control on Day 2 of the opening Test against South Africa in Christchurch on Friday. Nicholls was reprieved on five and 24, and then gave no chances to South Africa until he nicked Duanne Olivier to second slip on105. After shooting South Africa out for 95 in their first innings, New Zealand piled on the runs to end up with 482, taking a massive 387-run first-innings lead. Duanne Olivier was the pick of the South African bowlers claiming 3-100.
