Kolkata Knight Riders revived Alex Hales’ IPL career on Sunday by signing him for ₹1.5 crore on Day 2 of the IPL 2022 mega auction. The swashbuckling opener found no takers in the first round but was picked up at his base price in the second. Hales has featured in just half-a-dozen IPL matches so far, all of them for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018, with 148 runs at an average of 24.67. Hales hasn’t worn the England blue since just before the 2019 World Cup due to a failed drug test.
