England have sacked head coach Chris Silverwood, the latest to be removed in the aftermath of the team's horror show in the men's Ashes series. Silverwood departed the team a day after the managing director, Ashley Giles, was shown the door. Andrew Strauss, the new interim director of cricket, will appoint a caretaker coach with a Test tour of the West Indies on the cards. Under Silverwood's watch, England lost a record nine Tests in the calendar year, including series defeats versus India, New Zealand and Australia.
