Babar Azam, the Pakistan captain, has been adjudged the ICC men's ODI cricketer of the year for 2021, while England Test captain Joe Root bagged the award for men's Test cricketer of the year. Babar's magnificent 158 in the third ODI against England at Edgbaston during the summer was instrumental in him bagging top honours. Overall, the prodigiously talented right-hander featured in just half-a-dozen ODIs in 2021, aggregating 405 runs at a splendid average of 67.50.
