Somerset have inked a deal with Matt Renshaw as an overseas player for the 2022 season. The swashbuckling Australian top-order batter will be available to play at least until the end of August in the County Championship as well as the Royal London One-Day during his contract period.
Renshaw, who played 11 Tests for Australia between 2016 and 2018 and looking for a way back into the national fold, is no alien to Somerset. He played for the Taunton-based team in the 2018 season and made a splash after replacing Cameron Bancroft post the Newlands ball-tampering saga.
“Although I was only there for a short time, the supporters really got behind me and made me feel extremely welcome. I’ve never forgotten that”
