Having lost Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane in the first couple of overs, it looked all doom and gloom for India, but Rishabh Pant struck an equilibrium between attack to add 72 runs along with Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper played the patient game and frustrated the South African bowlers while Pant took the aggressive route to slam a quickfire half-century. The lead is 143 and if India can manage to bat the entire second session, the hosts will be well and truly under the cosh.
