Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja ensured a wicketless morning session for Australia on day two of the SCG Ashes Test. It was a start-stop affair because of rain that irritated everyone. England tried a few things but they looked flat as runs came at a fair clip. The pitch is so good to bat and none of their bowlers looked threatening for most parts of the session as the field was wide open to allow easy rotation of strike. Australia would have consolidation on their agenda, and Smith a glorious ton on the other side of the Lunch break.
