Rahul waited to see if Markram had taken the catch cleanly at second slip. The third umpire, however, could not find conclusive evidence to overrule the soft signal, leaving India at 24/1. Earlier, South Africa were bowled out for 229, finishing with a lead of 27. Shardul Thakur bowled with vim and vigour to return figures of 6 for 71, the best figures for a bowler in Tests between the two nations.
