Bangladesh had one of its better days on foreign soil in recent years on Sunday when it won all three sessions on the second day of the first Test against New Zealand. Bangladesh pocketed New Zealand’s last five wickets for 70 runs, restricting the home side for 328 after it had resumed proceedings at 258 for 8. Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Najmul Hossain Shanto then compiled half-centuries in a 104-run partnership for the second wicket and guided Bangladesh to 175/2 in its first innings at Stumps in at Mount Maunganui.
