The Thursday night Big Bash League fixture between Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers at the Marvel Stadium has been postponed after a member of the Stars’ support staff tested positive for Covid-19. All players and staff who were deemed close contacts have subsequently undergone PCR tests, results of which are not expected before the scheduled start of the game and therefore forcing the postponement of the match. Australia has been rocked by a new wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, with the thickly populated states of Victoria and New South Wales adding in excess of 17,000 new cases on Wednesday.
