Steve Smith heaved a sigh of relief as his dropped catch doesn’t prove too costly. Dawid Malan was struck on the pad in the very next over by Michael Neser from round the wicket. He reviewed the on-field decision in hope but it goes in vain and Australia have broken the little partnership that seemed to have been building between Malan and Rory Burns, who is looking much better at the crease this time around. That brought skipper Joe Root in the middle, with England in a spot of bother at 57/2.
