KL Rahul has been named as India's Test vice-captain for the tour of South Africa. He replaces Rohit Sharma as Virat Kohli's deputy, with Rohit out of the three-Test series with a hamstring injury that he picked up in the nets while training at the Bandra Kurla complex in Mumbai. Having been kept on the fringes by the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal for two years, Rahul grabbed his opportunity with both hands in India's tour of England back in August this year, impressing with a patient 84 in the opening Test in Nottingham.
