England assistant coach Graham Thorpe has thrown his weight behind the team selection and bowling combination after Australia comfortably posted 221 for 2 on the opening day of the day-night Ashes Test, in Adelaide. Roping in James Anderson and Stuart Broad, England left out Mark Wood and Jack Leach, meaning their five-pronged pace attack had little variety as all of them were right-armers. Skipper Joe Root was required to roll his arm over as well. The English bowlers beat a fair few times but have only two wickets to show for it, in 89 overs of toil.
💬They might all be right-arm bowlers but they are all slightly different style.💬
Assistant coach Graham Thorpe insists that England picked the right XI for the second #Ashes Test in Adelaide.
He also backed Jos Buttler to bounce back after two dropped catches on day one…
