(Photo) Malan, Root get on with the repair job

England played hard attritional cricket through the second session on day three, even with a mountain of runs stacked against them. Leading the resistance was the pair of Dawid Malan and Joe Root, who put on an unscathed 46-run stand after Australia made light work of the openers yet again. At Tea on the third day, the visitors were still 171 runs in arrears as they look to avoid an innings defeat. The right-left combination needs to kick on and score big to bail England out of choppy waters.
