Haseeb Hameed was looking nice and compact in the middle as he patiently worked his way to 27 off 58 balls, though a soft dismissal brought an end to his rock-solid innings. The composed opener was strangled down the leg by Mitchell Starc off a waist-high delivery, the sort of which Hameed had been glancing fine with glee. England have now lost both their openers, and Joe Root is again under the pump with England trailing by more than 200 runs.
