Axar Patel has prised out Ross Taylor and Henry Nicholls in quick succession to dent New Zealand post the lunch interval. He deserved the wickets for bowling with tremendous discipline and patience. A little more bite with the second new ball helped him as well. For starters, the ball turned away after pitching and took the edge of Taylor’s bat with strand-in keeper KS Bharat grabbing another excellent catch. Axar then snuffed out Nicholls, who burned a review after being smashed on the pads as a result of a failed sweep attempt. India is on a roll in Kanpur, with the visitors grappling at 226-4 after 99 overs.
