(Photo) Jamieson’s toil bears fruit as half-centurion Gill departs

Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 52 and his partnership of 61 with Cheteshwar Pujara had given India a fine headstart till Lunch on the opening day. However, as is so often the case in red-ball cricket, the break brought about a lapse in concentration and Gill chopped on off Kyle Jamieson, who now has two well-deserved wickets in his kitty. There was some low bounce and a hint of inward movement as Gill ricocheted a big inside edge onto the stumps. The onus is on senior pros Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane to consolidate India’s position.
