India batter KL Rahul has sustained a muscle strain on his left thigh; an injury that has ruled him out of the upcoming Test series against New Zealand. He will now undergo rehabilitation at NCA in preparation for the overseas series against South Africa scheduled next month. Suryakumar Yadav has been named as KL Rahul’s replacement. The absence of Rahul is a big blow for the hosts given the right-hander’s sparkling returns in the Test rubber with England earlier this year. The first Test between India and New Zealand begins on 25th November 2021 in Kanpur.
