Cricket’s most hackneyed cliche is that “catches win matches”, but in the crucial semi-final against Australia, Hasan Ali dropped the catch of Aussies wicket-keeper, Mathew Wade, who then went whiz-bang to get Australia over the line. In the second last over of the match, the pacer put down a mistimed pull after sprinting a good few yards to his left. Shaheen Afridi was distraught, but his misery compounded when Wade badgered three sixes in a row off him to seal the deal and book Australia a coveted place in the final.
