South Africa had been dented by three telling strikes upfront but skipper Temba Bavuma sewed up a partnership worth 38 with Aiden Markram to put the innings back on track in their 143-run chase against Sri Lanka. Reeza Hendricks, Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen had all failed to contribute much as Sri Lanka smelt blood in the T20 World Cup Super 12 clash. However, the alliance between Bavuma and Markram would have assuaged the nerves in the dressing room.
