Madeline Penna leapt to her left to grab hold of an absolute specky in the Women’s Big Bash League encounter between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunders. Sammy-Jo Johnson had rocked back onto the backfoot and made a good connection on the short-arm pull off Darcie Brow, but Penna was alert at catching mid-wicket as she reacted swiftly to help her franchise draw first blood in Thunder’s chase. They eventually fell short of the finish line by 30 runs as Strikers began their campaign on a promising note.
