Extending his rich vein of form in the UAE leg of IPL 2021, Venkatesh Iyer racked up his third half-century in nine matches in the second qualifier against Delhi Capitals. His 55-run knock in the chase of 136 orchestrated Kolkata Knight Riders’ three-wicket victory to enter the grand finale. The southpaw joined forces with Shubman Gill to get KKR off to a flier as the side put 96 for the first wicket in 12.2 overs. In a low-scoring thriller, Iyer’s stroke-filled assault put Delhi on the backfoot right away before Rishabh Pant’s men served a late challenge to give KKR a scare.
