In a video interview on Wednesday, Aaron Finch showed a little more empathy towards England’s players than his Test captain Tim Paine, suggesting that he understands where some “are coming from” in their concerns over spending a long period away from the families, given the quantity of cricket they have had to play within bio-secure enviornments. Paine recently declared that if England and Joe Root wanted to represent their country in the Ashes, they should “come and do it”. After developments in talks over the series this week, the prospect of an almost full-strength England side travelling down under for the first Test is looking increasingly likely.
