Chris Cairns uploaded a video onto his Twitter account on Sunday to inform fans of the health issues he has had recently and the operations he has undergone. He explained that in August he suffered a Type A aortic dissection, a tear in one of the arteries of the heart. The extensive surgery caused complications, including a spinal stroke. Cairns expressed his thanks to the doctors who saved his life and those who had offered him and his wife well wishes. More than anything else, it was great to see the former New Zealand all-rounder up and seemingly relatively well.
