Cameroon’s 16-year-old Maeve Douma created some unlikely headlines during her country’s T20 World Cup Africa region qualifier against Uganda on Sunday. The teenager utilised the controversial mankad dismissal not once, not twice, but four times as the umpire rather hilariously triggered each and every one, instead of perhaps consulting with the captain and batter on the realtive morals of the situation.
No matter what you might think of mankads, a topic brought to the forefront of cricketing conversation after Jos Buttler fell victim to Ravi Ashwin in the IPL, some blame must be given to the Uganda bats repeating a mistake that Douma was clearly so delighted to punish.
