Charlie Dean selected for England women ahead of New Zealand ODI series

Charlie Dean, the uncapped 20 year old off-spinner who plays for Hampshire, the Southern Vipers and the Hundred’s London Spirit, has been included in England women’s squad ahead of the One Day International series against New Zealand, as per Sky Sports. The squad has fifteen players to choose from, and sees Kate Cross and Lauren Winfield-Hill both return after missing out in the T20s, a series won by England in thrilling fashion on Thursday.

Danni Wyatt, the off-spinning all-rounder, also returns after not making the cut for the ODI series against India, having impressed in the two T20 series against both India and New Zealand. Her run-making and hugely impressive fielding during the inaugural season of the Hundred were also no doubt important factors in the decision.

The two sides will face off over five ODIs, taking place within the space of just ten days and beginning on September 16. It represents an excellent opportunity to prepare for the 50-over World Cup that is due to begin next year. If the T20s are anything to go by, it should be hugely entertaining.
