Amidst the fallout from the cancellation of England’s fifth Test against India due to COVID concerns, a great deal of sympathy was expressed for the travelling fans who were stripped of their day out at Old Trafford just hours before it was supposed to begin. Having spent sizeable sums on transport and hotels, perhaps, many were clearly not ready to let the opportunity of watching live cricket slip by, instead migrating to Sale Cricket Club to watch the Thunder play against the Southern Vipers in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. It was good to see such support being channelled into an underappreciated area of the game.
