They say there are only two types of leave, and Chris Dent fell definitively into one of those categories on Tuesday as he shouldered arms to a Simon Harmer delivery that pitched on middle and off stump and went on to hit middle. It was a complete brainfade from the Gloucestershire man as his side crumbled to 134-8 off 65.1 overs. Essex had bowled the visitors out for just 76 in their first innings and subsequently put on 276 all out. They found themselves two dismissals away from an emphatic innings victory on day three.
