(Video) Nasser Hussain breaks down Virat Kohli’s recent batting struggles

Nasser Hussain, speaking on Sky Sports, lent viewers a fascinating insight into the potential reasons behind Virat Kohli’s struggles over the past two years. After plundering so many runs in 2018 on India’s tour to England, it was anticipated that the world-class Kohli could well do the same in 2021, but so far he has managed only one half-century, dismissed twice each by Ollie Robinson and his great nemesis Jimmy Anderson.

As well as the direction in which his feet are pointing, Hussain compared Kohli to Joe Root and Steve Smith when facing deliveries in the “corridor of uncertainty”. Whereas the more successful Root and Smith play perfectly through the line of the ball in the channel, Kohli has started to play against it, coming inside of the delivery shaping away from him and nicking off.
