Sri Lanka recall Dinesh Chandimal as squad for South Africa series announced

A recall for Dinesh Chandimal was the leading story as Sri Lanka announced their squad for their white-ball series against South Africa. The group is made up of 22 cricketers, with the home side set to host three One Day Internationals followed by as many T20 games in Colombo. Dasun Shanka is the captain of the side.

Chandimal is one of the most senior players in the side at 31 years of age, and has returned after being dropped for his poor form on the tour to West Indies in March. As Sri Lanka struggled in England, many were suggesting that his experience could give their batting line-up some semblance of the stability they so desperately required.

Kusal Perera has also returned to the squad after recovering from COVID-19. He is joined by another tried and tested cricketer in the seamer Nuwan Pradeep. Both he and Chandimal have been rewarded for their excellent performances in Sri Lanka’s domestic T20 tournament, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. The series begins on September 2.
